For 18 years (1990-2007), Montanari isolated and insulated himself. His exposure to the outside world was limited to newspapers and the radio.
These years in isolation were not a sabbatical. Flavia, Montanari’s wife, has been his companion and support. Thanks to his wife, Montanari could pursue his passion, immersing himself for 18 hours a day in art.
Unaffected by trends in art, and with little direct exposure to the outside world, Montanari’s works have a rare individuality.
